Unique rock engravings believed to date from the Upper palaeolithic period, around 10,000 to 30,000 years ago in the Coa valley, a tributary of the Douro river near the town Vila Nova de Foz Coa in Northern Portugal. A hydroelectric dam project drained the river as seen in these images shot in October 1995, revealing more engravings of montain goats, horses, aurochs ( wild bulls) and deer and after excavation revealed rock shelters under the modern day water line. after a campaign...
